Luminar: The Path to Series Production: Q3 2022 Update

My first big project with Luminar Technologies involves multiple days of shooting, locations and interviews.

The first portion of the video was shot in Orlando, Florida at the Luminar headquarters and at a few partner facilities. For the interview, I mainly utilized natural lighting and supplemented it with a little 1x1 LED light. Not my typical setup, but you make the best of what you have at the time. Overall, I’d say the interview lighting turned out well.

The next portion of the video was shot in Rochester, New York at a partner facility, Calvary Robotics, where we did both the interview with a Luminar employee and b-roll of the robotics line being assembled. For this interview, I was fortunate enough to have a second shooter, Kyle Decker, and my typical setup of an Aputure LED light and a Nanlite Pavotube as a back/hair light.
